Dr. Jane McGonigal, Director of Game Research and Development, at the Institute for the Future. A futures forecaster and award-winning designer of alternative reality games, McGonigal’s specialty is exploring how mass collaboration in the virtual environment can help communities probe the future and solve problems. She will discuss the challenges museums and society face in the coming quarter-century and how we can work together to face these challenges.

The lecture will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., at the Newseum in

Washington , D.C. attendance is by invitation only. To engage the entire field in discussions about the future of museums, the lecture will be broadcast free over the Web in January. CFM encourages museums to convene groups of staff and community members to view the webcast and discuss how future trends will affect their institutions. CFM will provide curricular material to support these conversations and host moderated online discussions.
