In September 2008 the Smithsonian American Art Museum became the first museum in the world to host an alternate reality game. The online version of “Ghosts of a Chance” had more than 4,500 players across the United States. Since then the physical version of the game presented at SAAM has had 851 on site players. Georgina Bath Goodlander, Interpretive Programs Manager, Luce Foundation Center, at the Smithsonian American has compiled an evaluation of the modular game using Prezi, a cool new online presentation tool.
Ghosts of a Chance is an interesting exploration of the challenge presented by CFM lecturer Dr. Jane McGonigal last fall in her presentation "Gaming (is) the Future of Museums."
