Voices of the Future
The best way to predict the future is to create it—and that means envisioning what future we want! CFM’s “Voices of the Future” is an international, interdisciplinary discussion about the future of museums and society. We are recruiting creative, innovative thinkers to capture and share their hopes and dreams on video.
How can you participate?
- Visit the CFM YouTube channel to view the videos posted so far. These are organized in the Voices of the Future playlist. Contribute written or video responses!
- Read the suggested interview questions to help shape your thoughts.
- Grab a video camera and start recording! If you don’t have a camera, we are happy to lend you one via mail—email us at futureofmuseum@aam-us.org to request the Voices of the Future Interview Kit.
- Upload the video to YouTube or email it us so we can upload it for you. (We can also edit, if needed, and add title screens etc., if you would like.)
- Recruit other people to record their thoughts! Colleagues, friends, teachers, mentors. We are interested in perspectives from people of diverse backgrounds from museums and from other fields.
Tips:
- Keep it short! Five minutes or less is ideal.
- State your name, profession, and organizational affiliation at the beginning of the interview, and mention that this is for the Voices of the Future project for the Center for the Future of Museums.
- If you upload to YouTube yourself, please tag the video with the key words “center future museums voices” and email us with the link.
Models for this program include Big Think and StoryCorps — you may enjoy exploring both to shape your thinking.
